Written Agreement between ………insert carers names …………. and Brighton and Hove City Council 

I/We agree to:

 (a) Care for ………….insert name of child/ren …….as if he/she were a member of our family

(b) Keep her/him safe and ensure s/he has no access within the home to dangerous, illegal or inappropriate items, such as weapons, adult films, drugs.

(c) Not use any form of corporal punishment or inappropriate sanctions

(d) Ensure that the child/ren is/are encouraged and enabled to practice their religion; follow cultural traditions; speak their first language; understand their family history and value their heritage; attend school/college/work and fulfil their potential

(e) Ensure the child/young person has access to a balanced diet and opportunities for exercise commensurate with their abilities.

(f) Not provide the child/young person access within the home to dangerous, illegal or inappropriate items, such as weapons, adult films, drugs.

(g) Permit any person authorised by the local authority to visit the child/ren at any time

(h) Arrange for her/him to receive medical/dental/optical attention when needed and allow him/her to be examined when required by the responsible authority;

(i) Allow the child to have contact with other family members, but only in accordance with the terms of any court order, or any arrangements agreed/made by the local authority.

(j) Allow her/him to be removed at any time, if appropriate, by the local authority.

(k) Ensure that any information I/we are given, relating to the child and his/her family in connection with the placement, is kept confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone, except with the agreement of the local authority.

(l) To maintain a written record of any injury or accident suffered by a child placed and any physical control or sanctions used.
